Hello, I'm Emily of the Bowling Family Homestead!
My work as a birth and postpartum doula isn't just a service, it's an extension of my calling to "mother the mother" and uphold the sacred transition of birth as a divinely ordained journey. As a Jesus loving family, we believe every life is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and the season of welcoming new life is one to be wrapped in practical support, informed guidance, and spiritual grace.
We see compassionate, knowledgeable doula care not as a luxury, but as a basic human right—a ministry of presence that honors the dignity, strength, and God-given design of every woman. In line with this conviction, we are always open to discussing sliding scales, bartering within our homestead community, and negotiating care to ensure no mother walks this path alone.
We serve families across New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, southern New York, and Delaware, and are open to travel for emergency or exceptional circumstances. Praise the God of the universe, who ordains every birth and carries us through every transition.
Our Services
🤱 Birth Doula Support
A steady, knowledgeable presence for your pregnancy, labor, and immediate postpartum.
· Two prenatal visits to build relationship, discuss your birth vision, and practice comfort measures.
· Continuous, hands-on support throughout active labor, delivery, and the first 1-2 hours postpartum.
· One postpartum follow-up visit to process your birth story, check on feeding, and admire your newborn.
· 24/7 on-call availability from 38 weeks until birth.
🌙 Postpartum & Overnight Care
Practical, nurturing support as you heal and find your footing as a new family.
· Evidence-based feeding support (breast/bottle).
· Newborn care guidance & soothing techniques.
· Light household tidying, meal prep, and sibling care.
· Protected, restorative sleep for parents during overnight shifts.
· Emotional support and non-judgmental listening.
🌿 Placenta Specialist Services
For those choosing placenta encapsulation, we provide safe, respectful, and professional preparation.
· Safe transport & preparation in a dedicated, sanitized home workspace.
· Steamed or Raw preparation methods, following traditional Chinese medicine principles.
· Encapsulation, tincture, or keepsake options.
· Full safety compliance and sterile equipment.
Care Investment & Accessibility Plans
Our standard rates are listed below, but our heart is to serve. If these rates are a barrier, please reach out. We believe in the body of Christ and community support, and are open to discussion, payment plans, barter (homestead goods, skills, etc.), or reduced rates as we are able.
Standard Pricing
· Birth Doula Support: $600 flat fee *per doula*
· Includes all prenatal, labor, and postpartum visit support as outlined.
(Births that exceed 12 hours of care will require a second doula to work interchangeable 12 hour shifts. We can provide a second doula need be!)
· Postpartum Daytime Support: $35/hour (5-hour minimum)
· Overnight Postpartum Care (8 hour minimum): $40-$50/hour
· (Higher rate for shifts beginning after 9 PM)
Accessible Care Plans (New!)
To make foundational support available to all, we offer two minimal-donation monthly plans. These are designed for families who desire ongoing connection and basic guidance but may not need or afford full hands-on care immediately.
1. The "Rooted" Monthly Support Plan
$75 per month (through pregnancy)
· 24/7 Text & Call Access for urgent questions, emotional support, and quick guidance.
· Two (2) 30-minute video check-ins per month to discuss progress, concerns, and preparation.
· Curated resources & reading tailored to your trimester and birth goals.
· First priority booking for last-minute postpartum care, if available.
· Note: This plan does not include physical presence at birth or extended in-home hours.
2. The "Held" Upfront Care Plan
$500 one-time payment
· Includes all benefits of the "Rooted" Plan for the remainder of your pregnancy.
· PLUS one 3-hour in-home prenatal session for hands-on comfort measure practice and birth plan deep-dive.
· PLUS a dedicated birth bag kit with our favorite comfort tools (TENS unit, aromatherapy, etc.) for your use during labor.
· Discount of $100 off full Birth Doula Support if you choose to upgrade.
